Imperial Eagle
Imperial Eagle
Heraldic Crest
19th century ~ Poland

The Imperial Eagle of Poland is often depicted as a crowned, two headed creature--watchfully guarding against approach from either the East or the West. This bird, facing West, would ward off attack only from that direction!

Historically, Poland has been a nation that has had to keep close watch on encroachment over both its Eastern and Western borders.
