The Piers Park Pavilion
Twenty panels of Stony Creek Granite (a pale gray and pink stone quarried
in Connecticut) clad a brick pavilion at the terminus of one of Boston's
newest and most beautiful waterfront parks. Four interior panels offer brief
descriptions of the design content of the North, South, West, and East faces of
the pavilion.
The panels are organized roughly regionally, with each face
representing the nations or cultures of a broad geographic area. The cultures
depicted on these panels represent the 50 most populous ethnic identities of
East Boston (as determined by the 1990 census) with the addition of a few
historically important representatives of East Boston's citizenry.
