Sculpture in Metal & Glass
Will loves working in diverse materials like metal and glass.
Metal, wonderfully malleable, is in some sense infinitely transformable. Glass, strong yet vulnerable to stress cracking, creates a beautiful interplay with light. The variety of these pieces, from the figurative, through the stylized, to the highly abstract, give a good sense of the range of Will's talent. These pieces are highly complex. The brass crab, for example, comprises over three hundred individually hand-sawn and hand-hammered pieces. The glass pieces are sculpted using a multi-layered sand-blast technique. Protective rubber stencil is applied to the glass, cut to the design, removed, and reapplied in a complicated, many-stage process. |
